Top Hat Award

The "Top Hat Award" was conceived in 2002 by the Worshipful Master at the time, Dennis C. Lake, to honor the passing of Worshipful Brother Clyde Wendt.

Brother Wendt epitomized what a Mason should be.  He looked, acted, spoke and lived his life as a Mason should.  He took the Third Degree Charge to heart and emulated it every day.  Brother Wendt was a mason for 41 years and served Rising Sun Lodge #115 as an officer every year.  He was Master of the lodge twice.  The first time was in 1966, and then again a decade later in 1976.  Brother Wendt's devotion to the fraternity was unfailing.

The "Top Hat Award" is given each year by the lodge.  Each year the recipient is chosen by the Worshipful Master and can be given to anyone, whether or not the person is a Mason.  Although there were no guidelines set, outstanding contribution to Rising Sun #115 or Masonic institutions should be a primary consideration when conferring the award.
